Lowcountry Dental Associates performs root canal procedures. A tooth can be fractured by an accident or injury or deep decay which exposes the nerves in the tooth’s root. Once the nerves in the root are exposed to bacteria, they can become infected. A root canal procedure treats and removes the nerves and bacterial infection, then cleans, replaces and seals the area.
Pain is a sign of a possible root nerve infection and should be treated quickly to limit spread of the infection. The root canal procedure saves the root structure of the tooth and a crown is often necessary in addition to the root canal. An infected nerve can be painful. This root canal procedure with anesthesia provides needed relief with little discomfort.
